For the first time ever, SERES and Foodscapes come together to bring you this unique dining experience that aims to inspire action, discussion and thought.
Come and join us for a sensory journey of cacao that will inspire discussion, action and thought on the issues of food and culture.  
Chef Roger Feely of Soul Cocina will create a multi-course meal using chocolate as the ingredient in focus.  This event at the Posner Center is the launch of the new Soul Cocina project called Foodscapes.

About the hosts and their passions...
Foodscapes is a project that explores the journey of ingredients from seed to table. The journey is documented in live space through creative expression at events and within workshops using culinary arts, storytelling, dance, music and theatre. The journey will also be documented in virtual space through creative expression on-line via a web-series using video, photography, poetry, sound and more. We also record snippets of the sounds created on the journey (tractors, train rides, sizzle of oil on the grill, slapping of tortillas against palms...) to use as the sound samples to build the musical score/audio collage.
SERES mission is to create a new generation of future makers, supporting the emergence of local leaders by educating and empowering young people to launch and lead environmentally sound programs. SERES work seeks to create impact by empowering vulnerable communities to address our most critical issues starting with the least likely source: the youth. As the voices of the future who will be left with a legacy of unresolved environmental, social and economic problems, SERES recognizes that engaging with and involving this generation is essential in the development of smart solutions that lead us towards healthy, thriving and sustainable societies.
SERES current focus is on youth and young adults in Guatemala and El Salvador, where there are 15 million people – more than 60% of the population – aged under 30 years of age. Our goal is to harvest this untapped potential and use it to create positive change for good.

It has been a while since we have cooked a meal at La Victoria, our San Francisco home base.

It brings us great pleasure to announce that we will be cooking a very special vegan meal for our annual Dia de Los Muertos feast!

With just two days away, I recommend that you reserve your seats online.  There will only be one seating and space is very limited.

The menu is filled with handmade creations that we have been practicing to perfect over the years.  You will recognize a few Soul Cocina classics, as well as some new and exciting items.

As usual, the meal will have a musical element.  This time our friend from the neighborhood The Genie will perform a rare acoustic set. You may know this wizard of the scratch guitar for his eclectic and mystical electric sets.  On Saturday, The Genie will go raw and unplugged to share the soul of his musical inspirations.  The Genie will be right at home at his local panaderia.

Primavera Menu at Baru, New Orleans Monday April 30

Soul Cocina returns to New Orleans for one night to cook a very special Mexican Menu. 

We will serve some of our famous vegan dishes as well as dishes for all you meatheads with slow cooked Rabbit confit (scented with orange, cinnamon and ancho chiles), homemade green chorizo (pork belly and pork shoulder sausage spiked with fresh green chillies, clove and cilantro)

We will be serving this feast at the beautiful Uptown neighborhood Latin hotspot Baru Bistro and Tapas on Magazine Street.

As always, everything will be prepared fresh and by hand by chef Roger Feely.

Here is a breakdown of the menu:

Bhel Puri?
Soul Cocina has been serving bhel puri at Indian weddings and street food festivals for a while now. Puffed rice is dressed with fresh mint and tamarind chutneys and tossed with boiled potatoes, green mango, crispy fried lentils and roasted peanuts among other fun ingredients. This sweet, salty, tangy, spicey, crispy, luscious treat is served in Indian newspaper, just like on the streets of Mumbai.
Goat Curry Pao • Mango Pickle? What's that all about?
We slowly braise goat legs with fire roasted tomatoes, ginger, garlic, aromatic spices and chiles in banana leaves. The meat that falls off the bones and the sauce that we make from thickening the braising liquid with almonds, onions and sesame seeds is served with Soul Cocina mango pickle on a Goan style Portuguese Pao bread.
Pav Bhaji?
Pav Bhaji is a popular street food sandwich in India made with tomotoes and onions cooked down with other veggies and spices to make a succulent filling. Our version is Vegan!

Pani Puri • Sprouted Fenugreek • Blood Orange?
We make our own golgappas at Soul Cocina to ensure a crisp and fresh vehicle for our tangy tamarind water and spiced garbanzos. We sprout fenugreek seeds and add fresh blood orange segments to the mix. For folks that are familiar with this staple of Indian street food, they will be excited to sample this exciting version. For newcomers to this treat, one bite and they'll be hooked!
Aloo Gobi Samosa • Tamarind & Mint Chutney
Potatoes and cauliflower roasted with coriander and fennel are wrapped in a handmade pastry spiked with ajwain. With traditional mint and tamarind chutneys, this street food classic is a sure shot.
Pork Sorpatel Kati Roll • Chicharrones • Guasacaca?
The Adobo Hobo in San Francisco took their famous Filipino sisig and wrapped it in a taco with chicharrones. We were inspired by this and have decided to make a kati roll from the Goan pork dish, sorpatel, and wrap it in a paratha, just like a Calcutta kati roll. We make our own chicharrones with a process that involves boiling, dehydrating and frying, then we dress these tacos with guasacaca, the ubiquitous Venezuelan late night street food condiment made from avocados.

Our vegan kati roll is filled with Plantains and black Indian garbanzos (kala chana) and dandelion greens braised with brown cardamom and ginger. Plus Soul Cocina lime pickles.
